Gilgit-Baltistan holds strategic significance as the culmination point of CPEC. This initiative aims to support GB students pursuing undergraduate studies in top Public Sector Universities in Pakistan. Aligned with Pakistan’s SDGs, it targets poverty eradication and resource mobilization, driving HEC’s efforts to extend higher education Undergraduate scholarships to underdeveloped regions and bridge national inequalities.
Criteria for Eligibility
Here are the standard eligibility requirements for all these scholarships:
- Possession of a domicile/local certificate from Gilgit-Baltistan is mandatory for applicants.
- Applicants must have completed their Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent.
- Applicants currently benefiting from any other HEC/Government scholarship are ineligible.
- Students already enrolled in any BS Program prior to the advertisement, within a maximum of one academic year/session, may also apply.
- Scholarships will be awarded regardless of gender, caste, race, or religion.
- Applicants can apply to any Public Sector university/institution in Pakistan. However, any expenses exceeding those outlined in PC-1 will be the responsibility of the student.
- Students currently enrolled in any BS Program in public sector universities/institutions prior to the advertisement (maximum one academic year/session) may also apply.
Process for Selection in Undergraduate Scholarships
- Advertise the scholarship opportunities in print media and on the HEC website to invite applications from potential candidates.
- HEC/ETC will arrange the Scholarship Aptitude Test. Applicants must achieve at least 50% marks in this test, which remains valid for one year.
- Shortlisting of applicants will be based on the Aptitude Test scores (conducted by HEC) and academic credentials using the following weightage/formula: SSC 10%, HSSC 40%, and Scholarship Aptitude Test 50%.
- The applications of shortlisted candidates will be reviewed according to the defined eligibility criteria.
- Any seats that remain unfilled in a particular year will be carried over to the next year.
- Scholarships are available for students pursuing or seeking admission to undergraduate programs in HEC-recognized public sector universities or degree-awarding institutions in Pakistan.
- Selected applicants must secure their own admissions into the specified programs in Pakistan.
- Scholars must sign an agreement/undertaking before receiving the scholarship. The terms and conditions in the agreement/undertaking and award letter are binding for both parties.
- Final award letters will be issued after the applicant secures admission and completes all necessary formalities, including legal documentation.
Application Process For Undergraduate Scholarships
- Submit your application exclusively through the HEC web portal using the provided link.
- Do not send hard copies of applications or supporting documents at this stage.
- Pay a non-refundable application processing fee of Rs. 500/- to Habib Bank Limited, Account Number: 1742 7900 1334 01, titled “Higher Education Commission,” Branch Code: 1742.
- Upload the original bank payment slip with your online application and keep it safe for presentation at the test center. Failure to present the slip will result in disqualification.
- During the application process, upload a recent photograph and all required documents.
- Ensure you complete and submit the online application promptly. Incomplete or saved applications will not be considered.
- HEC reserves the right to delay or cancel the scholarship process at any stage without providing a reason.
All students must submit their applications via the HEC Online Application System using the link provided.
